Bishnupur is a leading city and municipality within the Bankura District of West Bengal. It is the headquarters to the Bishnupur Subdivision. It has a rich legacy and is famous for its iconic terracotta temples, developed by the Malla Kings and also the Radha Krishna temples dating to 1600-1800 CE and also its Baluchari Sarees. The city is governed by the Bishnupur Municipality and covers a total area of 22 square kilometers. The population stood at 75,000 people as of the year 2011.
