Mhow, also known as Dr. Ambedkar Nagar, is a cantonment town in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It is located in the Malwa region of central India and is the headquarters of the Indian Army's Mhow region. The town is located on the banks of the Narbada River and is surrounded by the mountain ranges of Satpura and Vindhya. Mhow has a long and interesting history, having been the site of the battle of Mhow during the First War of independence of 1857. It has also been the home of legendary military figures, such as Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, who was the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. The town is known for its educational institutes, such as the Mhow Military School, the Army Cadet College, and the Mhow Ordnance Centre. There are also a few small-scale industries in Mhow. The local market offers a variety of products from regional produce, to handicrafts and handlooms. The town is well-connected with neighbouring towns and cities and is accessible by road, rail and air. The nearby Jhiria Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Mhow. The nearest airport is at Indore, around 56 kms away. Mhow is a peaceful and pleasant place to visit and is a popular tourist destination.
