Sheikhpura is one of the 38 districts of Bihar, and it is the administrative headquarter. It is part of the Munger division. It was split from the Munger division into Sheikhpura on 31st July 1994 by Rajo Singh. After that, it became one of the less populous districts among the 38 in Bihar. The district is spread over 689 square kilometres, which is equivalent to Solomon Island and Kolombangra. As the district is one of the smallest in Bihar, most of the population depends on agriculture.
It has a total of 636,342 population, among which 926 females are for every 1000 men. The district has 56.90% of people speaking in Hindi, 38.17% in Magahi, and 4.70% in Urdu.
Infrastructure and Details
The district is well connected with state highways and with NH-80, which makes it easy to travel to various nearby cities. The nearest railway station is Kiul Gaya Loop which is just 3 km from the city and connects to nearby main cities by the passenger and express trains. The Kiul-Gaya Railway line makes it easy to travel to Bihar and other places in India from Sheikhpura.
The nearest airport is the Gaya Airport. Another option is Patna airport which is 180km from Sheikpura. It connects with major cities with daily flight service.
In the list of schools, there are DM Hingh school and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya – Sheikhpura. The top colleges are R D College – Barbigha and Sanjay Gandhi Mahila Maha Vidhyalay (SKR college). You can get healthcare facilities at the District Hospital Sheikhpura.
