Jaipur is the capital and the biggest city in Rajasthan. The city had a population of 3,046,189 people as of 2011. It is called the Pink City and the Paris of India. Jaipur is 268 km away from New Delhi and was founded by Jai Singh II in 1727. It is one of the country’s earliest and best-planned cities. It is a leading tourism hub of the country and part of the Golden Triangle Circuit with New Delhi and Agra. It is the gateway towards other tourist hubs in Rajasthan including Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Mount Abu and others. It has two UNESCO Heritage Sites, namely the Jantar Mantar, and the Amer Fort. The city is governed by the Jaipur Municipal Corporation. It covers 467 square kilometers in total at an elevation of 431 meters.
