Arrah is a city in the Bhojpur district of Bihar, India, and a Municipal Corporation. It is sometimes spelt as Ara and is located near the Ganges and Sone rivers. The city coordinates are 25°33'27"N and 84°40'12"E, spreading over an area of 49 sq. km, and have an elevation of 192 m above sea level. The temperature of Arrah is relatively high throughout the year and has an evenly distributed precipitation. Arrah was previously called Shahabad, named by Babur, and was a part of the Shahabad district. The estimated population of the city is 261,430. Hindi, Urdu, and Bhojpuri are widely spoken languages of Arrah.
