Baijnath is a well-known town in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra District. It lies around 50 km away from Dharamshala, its district headquarters. The ancient Baijnath or Lord Shiva Temple lies here. The elevation of the area is 998 meters. This township is part of the Himalayan Dhauladhar Range. It lies 16 km away from the Palampur region in the same district. The ancient temple is the source of several legends including one which claims that Ravana worshipped Lord Shiva here in the Treta Yuga. Hindi is the major language spoken here. Baijnath lies 51 km away from Kangra. There are several other tourist landmarks including the Shobha Singh Art Gallery, Awahi Nag Temple, Mukut Nath Temple and more. The Municipal Corporation Dharamshala is the administrative and governing body in the area. The coordinates of the locality are 32°05′01″N 76°57′59″E.
