Mahim is in the neighbourhood of Mumbai. The name was taken from the ancient Sanskrit word Mahikavati meaning "miraculous". Other names for the area, historically are Mahimawati, Mejambu and Maijim. Mahim is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on the west and Dharavi, Bandra and Dadar on the north.
