Egmore, located on the northern banks of the Cooum River, is a neighbourhood of Chennai in Tamil Nadu, India. It is an important residential, commercial and transportation hub of the state. The approximate area of the city is 2.81 sq. km, with an estimated population of 85687 (in 2020). It lies near the thermal equator and coasts, preventing extreme seasonal temperature variations, and Egmore experiences a tropical wet and dry climate. The city coordinates are 13.078°N and 80.259°E. Tamil and English are widely spoken here.

Egmore is a municipal corporation area under the Greater Chennai Corporation. The famous places of Egmore are the Government Museum, National Art gallery, St. Andrew's Church, etc.
Chintadripet (1.26 km), Thousand Lights (2.17 km), and Royapettah (3.02 km) are some of the nearby cities of Egmore. One of the significant roads of this locality is National Highway 114. The metropolitan transport Corporation buses provide a good transport connection from Egmore to other parts of Chennai.
