Raisen is a town in Madhya Pradesh, the municipality in the Raisen district. It is the administrative headquarter of the place. The town's name comes from a big fort located on a hilltop. It is located at 22 47′ and 23 33′ north latitude and 7721′ and 78 49′ east longitude. Moreover, it has Sehore district on its west, Vidisha district towards the north, Sagar district towards the southeast, and Narsinghpur on the south-eastern part. Spread over 8395 square kilometres, this town covers up 1.93% of the state. There is mostly a Hindi-speaking populace in this area.
