Perungudi is a neighbourhood of Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of Adyar. It is bordered on two sides by the Old Mahabalipuram Road and the Perungudi lake. It is situated on the Old Mahabalipuram IT Expressway right in middle of an Information Technology (IT) Estate. It is between Taramani and Thoraipakkam and parallel to Kottivakkam and Palavakkam in the East Coast Road (ECR Highway).
The suburb is inhabited by an equal mix of new migrants and descendants of some early clans who migrated to the area approximately 300 years ago. Perungudi is seeing heightened activities in recent years due to its strategic location. The population of Perungudi was approximately 8,000 in 2000 but has grown significantly in the years since then. Being in the IT Corridor of Chennai, Perungudi is increasingly being preferred as a residential locality by software engineers. Despite this significant growth, Perungudi lacks basic civic amenities such as underground storm and waste drainage system, piped potable water and good roads.[citation needed] This region has gained more importance owing to its location on the IT highway and proximity to city neighbourhoods like Palavakkam, Thiruvanmiyur, Adyar and Velachery.

Connectivity in our society is excellent when booking through Ola or Uber. We benefit from reliable power availability and a well-maintained environment with every amenity in good condition. The water facility operates smoothly 24/7, supported by consistent power backup from our borewell, ensuring no water scarcity issues. Maintenance charges are reasonable, contributing to a well-managed community. Nearby hospitals, including Apollo Hospital and others, are easily accessible, ensuring quick access to healthcare. The area is considered safe, providing peace of mind for residents. We also celebrate lesser-known festivals like New Year, August 15th, and January 26th within the society. Amenities such as the swimming pool, clubhouse, gym, table tennis, kids' play area, and others are available and well-maintained, enhancing the quality of life in our community. read more
Things need improvement
Our society lacks a separate visitor parking facility, which can be inconvenient for guests. Public transportation is available but located approximately 1 km away, and there are no nearby metro stations, making commuting less accessible. One significant concern is the danger posed to children by the streets outside the society. This issue needs to be urgently addressed by the management through the installation of appropriate safety measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents, especially children. read more

Perungudi is a residential cum commercial locality in the south Chennai area close to the sea. The neighbouring localities include Guindy, Velachery, VGP Selva Nagar and TP Nagar. These localities are well developed and have all amenities.
