Agra is a city in Uttar Pradesh in India, lying on the banks of the river Yamuna and is the fourth most populous city in the state. In the Mughal era, Agra was known as Akbarabad. The city lies entirely on a level plane and is surrounded by hills in the extreme southwest. The climate of the city is tropical and subtropical semi-desert.
