Asansol is a metropolitan city and headquarters of Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal, India. It has the 33rd largest urban agglomeration in the country. The city has a few nicknames like "The City of Brotherhood" and "Land of Black Diamonds". The city coordinates are 23.68°N and 86.99°E. It ranks 2nd in West Bengal in terms of area, where the metropolis is 326 sq. km, and the metro is 1,615 sq. km. The elevation of Asansol is 111 m above sea level.
