Sangli is a city and the district headquarters of the Sangli district in Maharashtra. Sangli is a major city in Western India 390 km from Mumbai, 240 km from Pune, 50 km from Kolhapur, and 653 km from Bangalore. Its coordinates are 16.853°N 74.583°E and according to the 2011 census, its population was 2,822,143. This city is spread over an area of 200.18 km2. The official language is Marathi. It experiences a dry and arid climate.
