Alibag is famously known as Alibaug which is a coastal town in the state of Maharashtra. The town is a municipal council and headquarters of the district of Raigad. It is also part of the MMR or the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It is popularly called mini-goa. It covers 510 square kilometres with a tropical climate having a good amount of rainfall in the summers.
