Nawada is one of the thirty-eight districts in Bihar and the administrative headquarters. It is the easternmost district belonging to the Magadh division. It has a total population of 2,219,146, 1,144,668 of male and 1,074,478 of female in this. Spread over 2,494 square kilometers, it is at 24.88N 85.53E.
The official language spoken is Hindi, English, Urdu, and Magahi. This district came into being on 26th January 1973, and the district got its name from the corruption of its old name of Nau-abad.
